Paul Wheaton and Jocelyn Campbell discuss various different things going on around the lab. Jocelyn thought perhaps carving the wooden spoon in Paul's office might not have been the best plan.
Paul discusses how their
Rocket Mass Heater has performed so far this winter and how little they have actually been using it.
It is pointed out that The Permies.com site has hit the 1,000,000
thread milestone. New users are up three times higher than a year ago.
Paul and Jocelyn discuss at length why they cover both successes and failures of particular projects during tours at
Wheaton Labs.
Paul and Jocelyn discuss the movie Captain Fantastic about a dad living with six children in a teepee. The father is homeschooling the children and attempting to bring them up to live a purposeful life. The topics then move on to Jocelyn discussing a study that found glysophate in 100% of the California wines, including the "organic" wines. Jocelyn is highly sensitive to wheat and is wondering if she actually reacting to the glysophate in products instead of just wheat.
Jocelyn then moves on to talking about a book she recommends, "The Third Plate" by author Dan Barber which talks about Dan's organic farming and how he convinced other area farmers to go organic as well.
Paul discusses the Wheaton Labs bounty system and the quality of work done by people who were attempting to fulfill the bounties. A specific example discussed was feedback from Jim Juczak's, one of the ATC instructors, who had been stating in the Red Cabin. Finishing the cabin interior was a bounty
project that Paul paid two people to finish that took two months, Jim said it would have taken him one day and he would have charged about half what Paul paid. Paul also discusses a couple of bounty projects that went better as well.
