Length: 48 minutes

Paul Wheaton and Shawn Klassen-Koop discuss Labor Investment Collectives (LIC).

Paul begins the podcast with the disappointing news that Paul's preferred cover for the Building a Better World book was not the winner in the online Permies poll. Paul and Shawn move on and describe the Appendix B section of the Building a Better world book. The Appendix B is the last section of the book that needs to be completed prior to launching the Kickstarter campaign for the book.

Paul and Shawn review some editing changes they have made to strengthen certain parts of the book. Paul then goes on to discuss the Patreon poll about upcoming podcast topics including:

• Wish list items for Wheaton Labs
• Wofati and Berm Shed Lessons
• Allerton Abbey progress
Bootcamp program currently has two openings
• Biological Reverse Kickstarter
• More content from the Building a Better World book
• The last chapter of Gaia's Garden review

Paul explains the concept behind a Labor Investment Collective, basically you put in 8 months of time helping others build a natural home and you get back more labor from others to help you build your own home. Usually the people would start with basic or no skills and develop skills over the initial 8 months on other peoples. The concept is similar to an Amish barn raising with a bit more structure. Each artifact or structure that a person works on would be tied to a BB in the PEP program.

The LIC program is being set up as part of the Community Badge and Paul and Shawn spend some time discussing what the Community Badge is and how it is being setup and the vision on how it will fit into the PEP area. Shawn points out some of the issues with getting the LIC program started and Paul walks through a possible start up scenario.

There have beenseveral projects lime this followed by UK TV over the years and they have always been fascinating.  This one in particular caught my eye for its leaning towards community feel.
