Summary

Paul visits with Dr. Julia Winter. Julia is a Doctor, Patreon patron, Kickstarter supporter, and Permies Staff member. They have a nice chat about Paul's analysis of her 40 acre farm.

Paul and Julia sit down in this Part 1 and give an introduction to Julia's property. In the first few minutes they talk about podcasts and deal with cold callers and (presumably) feverous callers (Julia is a Doctor). They also discuss the size and shape of the farm / community, the orchard, trees, diversity, buildings, dogs and they hint at a lovely pizza dinner which the rest of us missed.
Also on the table are some issues about the nearby road, a pond, and of course a little rocket talk.

It's really more accurate to call Ten O'Clock Acres "Eliot's Farm" instead of Julia's Farm.  He is there much more often than I am, given that I'm working full time as a pediatrician.

I'm sorry we didn't get to make a group recording with Eliot and Jocelyn and others, but it was very nice to sit down amongst the art at the Kennedy School and chat with Paul for almost three hours.  

Ask me about food.

I want to react to what you said about being arrogant or humble. I think someone who is 'silent' can be very arrogant. Maybe he thinks: "other people aren't worth to know my opinion, I keep it all for myself!" We don't know what a 'silent' person thinks ... Someone who shares his opinion a lot (including making podcasts and videos) does so because he wants everyone to know this important news, fact, explanation or whatever he wants to share. For me that's a sign of respecting other people, so that person is humble.

Hey, I am new to this forum and looking for other Portlanders! I am ultimately seeking to leave the city and find community on acreage. Just curious where you farm is?
